All of the trails were rolled yesterday to compact the new snow. The groomer was tried but alas things were too soft and it got stuck a ways from the storage spot. With the cold night we are supposed to get we hope to get it out early one of the next few mornings but we are totally dependent on Mother Nature right now.
Speaking of Mother Nature, nordicskiracer.com recently had a good article on spring skiing etiquette. Bottomline, if the trail is really soft because it is above freezing and you leave deep ruts, it can be very tough to impossible to remove those ruts if temperatures drop making for crappy skiing for anyone trying to use the trail after that. In general, we can take out ruts about 1″ deep but if you are skiing and leaving bigger ruts than that, please quit skiing and get out another day when it is colder. Thanks!
