We had a trail work day yesterday and started prepping the trail for winter. A month or so ago the had the main trail between the parking lot and clearing for the MTB skills park leveled and we spread winter rye on that section to get some vegetation going before winter. We also took out may of the sod lumps and other rough stuff on the north loop. That should help minimize the amount of snow need to ski it, minimize melting in the spring as well as making it easier to groom a bit wider (or “harvest” snow from the edges of the trail). We are going to be going around cutting back any branches that have encroached on the trail and also mowing everything in the coming weeks. Hopefully we can also get the entrance to parking lot filled in a bit to smooth entry and exit.
Let it snow!
